3/4/15 - The Maze Runner got off to a great start last fall becoming another film franchise for 20th Century Fox. T.S. Nowlin, who co-scripted the first movie and scripted the second installment, just sealed a deal to pen a third. All are based on James Dashner’s bestselling YA series. The second film The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is in post-production and is scheduled for September 18. Wes Ball directed both and Nowlin will get sole writing credit on the second, and has an exec producer credit. The third is called The Maze Runner: The Death Cure. There are four books in the Dashner series, the last being The Killer Order. The first film — about a boy who is has no memory that ends up in a strange world that he fights to get out of, chased all the while through a maze by robotic monsters — ended well set for a sequel. In the second film he finds himself in another unexpected reality with a government and land that is a wasteland in a fierce battle with Cranks while trying to figure out Wicked. In the third installment, the hero’s memory starts to return and he realizes that Wicked is not to be trusted. Source: Deadline.com
4/18/13 - Dylan O’Brien has landed the role of Thomas in 20th Century Fox‘s The Maze Runner. O’Brien is one of a group of teens who wake up in a maze with no memory of how they got there. He then searches for answers and a way out. Wes Ball is directing with a script by Noah Oppenheim. Will Poulter, Kaya Scodelario, Aml Ameen, and Thomas Brodie-Sangster are also set which films in May in Baton Rouge ahead of a February 14, 2014 release date. Source: Deadline.com
2/8/13 - Fox has set Feb. 14, 2014 for its young adult sci-fi film Maze Runner, to be directed by Wes Ball. The film is based on the first book in James Dashner's popular trilogy, which Random House's Delacorte Press published in October 2009.
