2/4/15 - Robotech will try to transition to film with Warner Bros producers Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton and scribe Michael Gordon. In the 1980s, Robotech, which was brought to America by Frank Agrama and Harmony Gold.  Source: Deadline.com

11/17/08 - Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have been drafted to write Robotech, Warner Brothers' adaptation of the anime classic, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  Akiva Goldsman and Chuck Roven are producing with Tobey Maguire and Drew Crevello.  A sprawling SF epic, Robotech takes place at a time when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology on an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific isle. Mankind is forced to use the technology to fend off an alien invasion, with the fate of the human race ending up in the hands of two young pilots.

 

06/16/08 - Lawrence Kasdan has been hired to write Robotech, Warner Brothers' feature-film adaptation of the anime classic.  Akiva Goldsman and Chuck Roven are boarding the project as producers, joining Tobey Maguire and Drew Crevello.  A sprawling SF epic, Robotech takes place at a time when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology on an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific isle. Mankind is forced to use the technology to fend off three successive waves of alien invasions. The first invasion centers on a battle with a race of giant warriors who seek to retrieve their flagship's energy source, known as "protoculture," and the planet's hope for survival ends up in the hands of two young pilots.

 

09/11/07 - Tobey Maguire will produce and may star in a film based on the classic SF anime Robotech.  Robotech was a cartoon series during the 1980s from Harmony Gold USA and Tatsunoko Productions.  It takes place at a time when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology on an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific isle. Mankind is forced to use the technology to fend off three successive waves of alien invasions.
