5/27/10 - Warner Bros. chairman and CEO Barry Meyer announced The Rite release date as January 28, 2011.

5/3/10 - Alice Braga, Ciaran Hinds and Toby Jones have joined Anthony Hopkins in the cast of The Rite, the upcoming exorcism drama based on true events, Screen Daily reports.

2/25/10 - Anthony Hopkins will star in The Rite, a supernatural thriller based on true events, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  The New Line project centers on a disillusioned American seminary student who attends exorcism school at the Vatican and ultimately finds his faith through encounters with demonic forces. Hopkins will play a priest who is an expert in exorcisms and whose methods are not necessarily traditional.  Mikael Hafstrom is directing from an adaptation of a book by Matt Baglio.
